Yeah my first time playing WoW i tried just killing the Monsters to lvl and i found out that takes way to long lol....It helps alot to do the quests, and to have appear and recall because if u dont have it then u will spend alot of time walking from place to place, its only $15 to get Appear and Recall.
And that i think is alot better than Paying Monthly on another server that u can get that on. Well have fun Twinge =)

To give you an idea how quickly you can level, if you get to outlands at 58-60, all you have to do is finish all quests in Hellfire and Zangarmash and you should be 70. Get recall/appear like they said. It will help in travel time. Also helps you get into on going raids much easier. It is just a on-time $15, You won't regret it.

Yeah, as someone here on the forum once said, once you get appeal/recall, you can't remember how you lived without it.

I don't have any 70s yet, but I have two lvl50s and a lvl40. I got most of my levels through straight grinding, with the occasional quest on the side. I start in the human lands of elwynn forest, move on to westfall, duskwood, stranglethorn vale, tanaris, ungoro crater, and finally to silithus, in that order. Once you start one character, finding the right place to grind is easy with the rest, as you can use the same places that you used for your first character (especially if you have .recall).

hmm...well tosha and i started a new toon each the night before last....and after about, idk, 17-20 hours we are at lvl 38 on them...all of those lvls were obtained through quests, we didn't grind unless a quest needed us to kill mobs, and most of the time we didn't get much xp from them since we were in party w/ eachother...so it's really not all that hard to lvl up a toon.......and for the record, we did this w/out using .appear or recall since the account she made didn't have it yet....

Woohoo .mod level ftw xD Well, it is as they say. Just kill stuff and quest. It's 10x rates, so it won't take you long. You could probably win events too to get your toon lvled up

I just thought i'd post an update on this and bump this back to the top. Leveling has gotten harder since I last grinded my chars up. I made a priest awhile ago and I found it was taking a very long time to get levels. My advice is Dont Try to Grind it on mobs. Youre far better off getting 110k for a quest after killing 30 mobs than killing 100mobs for 1k xp each.

Heh, tbh i forgot how is to lvl on private servers, i have my chars here for a looooong time. But definitely is better to do quests than just kill mobs.
Quests gives you rep, ex, money and items. Items and money are not a problem on private servers but it helps you to know the zones well, factions and to have fun.

Here's a very rough guide to grinding FTH

If you are new to the game though i would suggest you grind some and try some quests as you will miss out on a big part of the game

Once you hit 60 get all your spells etc.. and explore the outlands

"Happy huntin"

0-15 - Questing in start zone fastest possible exp.
15-20 - The Barrens - Harpies *
15-20 - The Barrens - Bristleback(s) *
20-25 - The Barrens - Bael Dun Exavs *
20-25 - Hillsbrad - Hillsbrad Farmers (etc)
22-26 - Thousand Needles - Galak Scouts (etc) *
26-30 - Hillsbrad - Mud Gnolls *
25-30 - Thousand Needles - Grimtotems
30-38 - Shimmering Flats - All monsters. *
38-40 - Dustwallow Swamp - Very North East Islands, Murlock Warriors/Oracles.

Horde And Alliance Grinding Spots:
40-46 - Feralas - Woodpaws (stay away from the ones that disease for
slow casting speeds) N/A atm no mob spells
46-48 - Feralas - Frayfeather Skystormers *
48-50 - Feralas - Harpies
48-51 - Southwest of Gadgetzan - Thistleshrubs *
50-54 - Western Plaguelands - First 'field' to the left, assorted monsters.
54-60 - Western Plaguelands - Scarlet Lumberjacks
52-60 - Eastern Dire Maul - Lashers ****

* = Recommended

26-30: Duskwood quests and undead for grinding. Hillsbrad critter roamers for grinding.

30-35: Did these all in a day on Daggerspines in Hillsbrad right next to Southshore along the coast. Huge spawn, very fast respawn rate, easy mobs to kill. Purgation isle (island in the very far Southwest water area of Hillsbrad) also a nice secluded place you can grind on undead.

36-40: Hillsbrad southshore quests. Desolace quests and kodo grinding for 36-38, then Undead Ravagers in the southeast for 38-40. Cresting exiles at the circle of outer binding in Arathi also for 37-41; extremely easy mobs with a fast respawn. Alterac ogres from 35-40 for grinding. Drywhisker kobolds in Arathi east of Hammerfall for 36-39 for grinding.

41-45: Hinterlands trolls, owl beasts, and wolves for grinding and quests. Badlands ogres, gnolls, and quests.

45-48: Tanaris quests and pirates on the eastern paninsula for grinding. Stranglethorn vale quests (only if you need rewards imo). Badlands greater elementals for grinding.

48-52: Felwood deadwood gnolls for grinding and quests from the sanctuary in the south. Blasted lands dreadmauls for grinding. Un'goro crater (best started at 50) for primarily quests and grinding off the plants and tar elementals. Azshara undead highbornes and thunderhead hyppogriffs for grinding.

52-55: Azshara blood elves for grinding. Burning steppes dreadmaul rock ogre caves firegut ogres (very low AC) for grinding. Felwood irontree woods and cave for grinding (great spot). Western plaguelands questing for argent dawn and grinding on undead throughout the various camps.

55-58: Eastern plaguelands quests from the sanctuary, grinding on undead at the ruined towns. Winterspring grinding at winterfall village or Lake Kel'Theril undead highbornes. Blackrock Stronghold in Burning Steppes for grinding.
